Resumo
This work analyses the development of the fishing activity in Spain from the last years of the XIX centurñy to the start of the Spanish civil war. The objective is to observe its importance within the whole economy, comparing it to that ofother sectors, to analyse the trends followed by its transformation in the different Spanish coastal areas and its evolution over the different economic situations. Finally, to observe the changes in the production processed which made fishing go from what could be called "traditional" to "modern" or "commercial" fishing.
