Abstract

In this work we try to reflect on what could have been the real diffusion of the CSM during the period of their conception and the decades following the death of Alfonso X. Different hypothesis will be proposed through arguments to confirm them. Objections that may make them non-viable will also be marked. I will finally offer, as a conclusion, my personal opinion which is a result of the previous reftection. I consider the CSM circulated in a courtly environment, where they would have been very appreciated as a result of the extraordinary novelty they supposed in so many aspects. Nevertheless they would not have been sung in marian sanctuaries with the frequency the king would have desired.
