Abstract

The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) has a firm commitment for making equality between woman and men a reality. It was one of the first Spanish universities in creating an Office of Gender Equality in 2006, anticipating to the Organic Law 4/2007 for the Effective Equality of Women and Men. Moreover, in 2009 the USC approved the 1st Strategic Plan of Equality of Opportunities between Women and Men (PEIOMH) that established a frame for the development of equality policies in the institution. The update of the diagnosis of equality at our University, together with the results of the evaluation of the degree of fulfillment of the 1st Plan of Equality, constituted a fundamental tool for the elaboration of the 2nd PEIOMH. The Government Council of the USC approved the 2nd PEIOMH on December 16th of 2013.
