Abstract

Research on History of the Communication has been widely marked from the beggining by an important historicist nature. Press soon became not only an important source to study History but also a subject of analysis itself. Following these analysis, communication researchers began to analize communicative processes, textual forms, promoters and journalistic industries focusing on matters usually forgotten in their researches by historians. In spite of it, both of these thesis appear as essential and complementary. An interdisciplinar approach to history of communication should enrich our perspectives providing us with the necessary tools to understand mediatic facts as a whole. From this plural point of view, Communication Section of the Galician Cultura Council is focusing on the study of protojournalism in Galician language. From theoretical approaches based on History, Communication or Language, and collaborating with specialists in each of these areas, we are trying to create a global perspective as a tool which can be used to deepen in the most relevant aspects concerning the roots of our journalism. The language used, the promoters, the receivers, the historical facts, the headlines or the historic phases appear as the starting point from where this research begins, in order to establish a wider and more diverse point of view about the origins of our journalism
