Resumo
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the most common inflammatory rheumatic disease of childhood and the involvement of the temporomandibular joint has been reported in different studies. A number of scanning modalities can be used, and each modality uses a different physical effect to generate cross-sectional images through the human body. The cross-sectional images are arranged in order so that the computer can construct a three-dimensional data set of the patient. The three-dimensional visualizing method may, besides providing diagnostic advantages, be a valuable tool for qualitative and quantitative documentation of the efficiency of different treatment in patients with TMJ arthritis.
