Abstract

The dissertatin will research the impact of the rise of food prices on Tajikistan's households income and welfare. Tajikistan is one of the countries showing lower values for indicators of food security in the world. Using data from the Household Budget Surveys elaborated by the Tajikistan Statistical Office and the World Bank, I will estimate the price elasticity of demand of all food items consumed by Tajikistan households. These estimations will allow me to build equivalent variation indicators of welfare based on the total incomes and expenditures data obtained from the same sources.
