Doctor by the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela with the thesis Assessment of the nitritation and anammox processes for mainstream wastewater treatment 2019. Supervised by Dr. Anuska Mosquera Corral, Dr. Ángeles Val del río, Dr. Ramón Méndez Pampín.

Alba Pedrouso obtained his Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2013 and the MSc in Chemical Engineering and Bioprocess in 2014. Since then, my research interest is focused on developing and optimizing innovative technologies and advanced bioprocesses for their application on wastewater treatment plants, making them more economical and environmentally sustainable. In December 2019, she defended her PhD thesis in Chemical and Environmental Engineering entitled “Assessment of the nitritation and anammox processes for mainstream wastewater treatment”. Later, Alba worked as PhD Project Manager in Cetaqua technological Centre, focused on recovering value-added products from agro-food wastes and biologically removing nutrients from wastewater with projects at pilot and full-scale. Alba has experience operating different types of bioreactors with different biomass aggregation states and scaling up processes from lab to pilot scale. From July 2021, Alba joined back the Biogroup as Postdoctoral Xunta de Galicia Fellowship to work in the resource recovery from wastewater to produce volatile fatty acids from complex substrates. Moreover, Alba is still working on developing efficient processes for autotrophic nitrogen removal.
