Resumo

With the rise of antimicrobial resistance due to extensive antibiotic use, the quest for novelantibacterial agents to control aquaculture infections is receiving increasing attention.The aim of this study was to isolate lactic acid bacteria with antimicrobial effect. Threelactic acid bacteria (LAB) were identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing as Leuconostocmesenteroides, Bacillus velezensis and Enterococcus vikkiensis. The supernatant of thosestrains showed a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against aquaculture pathogenssuch as Vibrio anguillarum, Aeromonas salmonicida, Edwarsiella tarda, and Photobacterium damselae subsp damselae.These results showed the potential of LAB for use as asource of antibacterial compounds such as organic acides, hydrogen peroxyde, bacteriocinsand exopolysaccharides, in aquaculture
