Abstract

Working on a computerized term bank of the Galician-Portuguese lyric poetry offers multiple research possibilities both in the literary and lexicographic domains. The data provided by this tool can help users to establish different types of relationships among lexical units, genders and troubadours. In this regard, one of the possibilities of a term bank of this kind including lexical meaning is to identify intertextual relationships. In order to illustrate this point, the contribution scrutinizes the way in which D. Dinis uses the unusual term proençal in his famous Proençaes soen mui ben trobar. The exceptionality of the aforementioned term also derives from its association to an unusual topic in the tradition. This peculiarity allows us to make an interpretative leap in the study of the King’s cantiga, which reveals itself as a planned controversial response to the Que muito m’eu pago d’este verão written by the priest Airas Nunez.
