Resumo
Subject-agreeing clitic behaviour does not always coincide in Spanish and Galician; indeed, within the pronominal constructions, this is one of the most striking contrasts between the two languages. Galician learners have difficulty with this part of the syntax, their speech often revealing transfer from Spanish. This paper focuses on a study of indirect reflexive constructions, such as the Spanish lavarse las manos. It is found that the help offered to Galician learners by current Spanish-Galician bilingual dictionaries leaves much to be desired in this regard, and some ways to correct this shortcoming are suggested.
