Abstract

The main objective of this research is to describe and analyze, from the perspective of the ecological theory of learning, how future primary school teachers in Galicia learn in the framework of new processes, contexts and technologies that brought about the so-called Information Society and Knowledge, and that leave their mark on the development of their knowledge and teaching identity. To this end, it has been developed a mixed methodology, beginning with a first qualitative phase through the Delphi method, with the participation of various national and international experts, to dimension and establish the main components of the mentioned learning ecologies. On this knowledge base, research continued to the second phase, of quantitative inquiry, which included the elaboration of an survey for obtaining reliable and valid data on the subjects of our study, and, finally, the administration of the questionnaire prepared and the subsequent statistical analysis of the data obtained. The results show a future teacher motivated, active and provided with multiple resources, which uses modern strategies, especially collaborative ones, to take advantage of the opportunities offered not only by traditional formal contexts but also by non-formal and informal ones. All of this is possible thanks to his self-regulation and self-management capabilities that paves the way for gaining other skills lifelong and life-wide. However, better use of online resources and a more definite commitment to creativity are aspects that seem to need more impulse for improving his training.
